Melanesia
Melanesia is with Polynesia and Micronesia one of the three major archipelagos in the Pacific or Pacific Ocean that together Oceania forms. It is located north to northeast of Australia.
Melanesia means black islands in ancient Greek, so named after the skin color of the Melanesians, the indigenous people.
