Monterosso al Mare is the largest and northernmost town in the Cinque Terre on the coast Liguria. It is also the busiest tourist destination and has some larger, more special hotels. Like the other towns in the Cinque Terre, it is also a sparkling gem.

Monterosso is divided into two parts. The new place 1 Fegina is separated from the old town center by a large boulder through which an approximately 100 m long tunnel leads. Pedestrians and a few local cars are allowed to share it. There are vineyards and olive groves in the vicinity of the village. Monterosso is the only village in the Cinque Terre with a beach worth mentioning.

The railroad is the most convenient and the most common means of getting here. The 1 Monterosso train station is on the railway line Genoa-Pisa of the Italian State Railways (Ferrovie dello Stato). In addition, the Cinque Terre Express between La Spezia and Levanto every 30 minutes.

In the summer months, the shipping company offers Consorzio Martittimo Turistico Ferry connections to the villages of the Cinque Terre, with the exception of Corniglia. Due to its mountain location, Corniglia does not have a pier and cannot be approached by the shipping company's ships.
