Montpelier is the capital of American State Vermont and the administrative seat of the Washington Counties.

Montpelier is on Winooski Riverflowing to the northwest and at Burlington in the Lake Champlain flows out. A first permanent colony was established in 1781. The city was officially founded in 1787, and in 1805 Montpelier became the capital of Vermont. While Burlington is the largest city in the state, Montpelier ranks third and is the smallest of the federal capitals.
