Morteau, capital of the canton, commune of Doubs in Franche-Comte is at a crossroads on the D437 coming from Montbeliard (80 km) and going to Pontarlier (30 km) and the D461 of Besancon (67 km) Going to La Chaux-de-Fonds (13 km) in Swiss.

- By taking the D461 towards La Chaux de Fonds, after 6 km you arrive at Villers-le-Lac, another watchmaking city on the banks of the river. The road all in bends (vircoillots in Montbéliardais), D437, runs along the Doubs and its high cliffs to the site of Remonot caves already described in the section of Pontarlier.
