Mrągowo(German: Sensburg) is a city in the voivodeship Warmia-Masuria.

background

The place was founded by the Teutonic Order in the 14th century. He received the town charter before 1407. In 1466 the religious state became a Polish fiefdom and the area remained so even after secularization and the introduction of the Reformation from 1526 to 1660. Then the place came to Brandenburg, which was called Prussia from 1703, in 1871 to the German Empire, in 1918 to the Weimar Republic and 1945 to Poland.

Located west of the Great Masurian Lakes, Mrągowo is an important tourist center with numerous accommodation options. Every year at the end of July, an international country festival is held in the city, which is lined with 18 lakes, in the local amphitheater. Not far from the city there is a small airfield from which sightseeing flights are offered. In the nearby forester's house Kleinort (Polish. Leśnictwo Pierslawek) is the birthplace of the writer Ernst Wiecherts, in which a small museum has been set up.

By plane

By plane, Mragowo is only indirectly via the Olsztyn Airport to reach. Other airports are Warsaw and Danzig. The further way to Mragowo leads from Warsaw -> National Road 61 to Ostrołęka -> National Road 53 to Rozogi -> National Road 59 to Mrągowo.

Since Mrągowo has not had a train station since 2006, the nearest train station is the one to travel to OlsztynFrom there there are several bus routes in the direction of Mragowo. There is also an express bus from Olsztyn.

The town of Mrągowo does not have its own train station, in which case the closest train station would be Kętrzyn or Olsztyn.

Intercity buses run to the surrounding towns.

Along the promenade by Lake Czos, various tourist activities are held in summer, such as jet skiing and pedal boat rental, lake tours.

Popular excursion destinations are the numerous lakes that are close to the city. There is currently no swimming pool in Mrągowo, but there is a guarded bathing section at Lake Cosz on the north-east bank that is used a lot by the locals.

There are shopping opportunities in the various boutiques and shops in the streets. Warszawska, ul. Ratuszowa, ul. Korlewiecka. A few shops selling used goods and toys are located in ul. Mazurska.

Despite joining the EU, the Polish Republic currently uses its own currency, the Polish zloty, which can be exchanged in the city's numerous exchange offices and banks. The annual average exchange rate is around PLN 4.10.

Exchange offices are located at ul. Mazurska, ul. Kościuszki, ul. Królewiecka. Currency exchange at banks is easy.
