Nøtterøy is an island (commune) on the western bank of the mouth of the Oslofjord in the Skagerak. Due to the direct connection to the one on the mainland immediately adjacent Tonsberg the island is barely perceptible as an island from this side. From the fjord side, however, it turns out to be a typical island region with many small and tiny islets around it.
Nøtterøy is relatively densely populated and permanently, not just with holiday homes. As on the surrounding mainland, agriculture is partly practiced here.
getting there
By road, the island is only on Riksvei 308 across the bridge from Tonsberg from (supra-regional travel information in the article there). The Rv 308 leads across the entire island and on to the benchmarked island community Tjøme until Verden's end, the end of the world.
Nøtterøy is over bridges with the neighboring islands Føynland and Tjøme connected.
