Torbole is a city in Northern Italy. The place is on the north bank of the Lake Garda.

Nago-Torbole consists of three districts:

Old port in Torbole
  • Torbole is located directly on Lake Garda, on the Gardesana Orientale coastal road. The river Sarca flows into Lake Garda in the village. Life is raging in Torbole, you can stroll along the beach promenade, go swimming and surfing. There are a variety of restaurants and nightlife is also here.
Nago from Castel Penede
  • Nago with the former citadel Castel Penede is about 150 m above Torbole. The place has retained its village character. Life is raging down on Lake Garda, it is more peaceful here.
The through-town of Tempesta
  • Tempesta consists of only a few houses on the shores of Lake Garda south of Torbole. To the south of this, the municipal boundary also forms the border with the province of Verona (Veneto). Apart from a bus stop and two hotels, the place has little to offer.

The highest point of the parish is the summit of the Monte Altissimo (2,079 m).

In the street

Brenner motorway A22 south, exit "Rovereto sud - Lago di Garda nord"; after the toll booth on the state road SS240, past Mori and Loppio, drive towards Nago. The municipality of Torbole (located in the valley on Lake Garda) can be reached by taking the exit towards Torbole at the large roundabout in Nago and continuing downhill to Torbole.

From March to October, all sea locations are regularly approached by passenger ferries. The pier is after the old port in the direction of Tempesta.

  • The Castel Penede is now a ruin on the rock above Torbole. A hike to the old castle is rewarded with a view of the valley around Arco, Lake Loppio, Lake Garda and the surrounding mountains.
  • The Chiesa di San Zeno dates from the 12th century and was rebuilt in the 16th century.
  • The glacier mills Marmitte dei Giganti were formed in the ice age 70,000 to 10,000 years ago by glacier melt water. Eddy currents have caused washouts in the softer rock. From Nago, at the large roundabout, a small footpath leads to the Marmitte. From Torbole at the end of Via Strada Grande, turn right, there is a steep footpath and about 175 meters in altitude.

  • The Sentiero Busatte Tempesta is a beautiful, simple one trail (4 km long, about 100 m ascent) on the steep mountain slopes with a view of Lake Garda from above. There are information boards along the route describing the geology, fauna and flora. The starting point is behind the climbing garden of the Parco Busatte (by car from Torbole past the Hotel Central) at a sign with the route. The hiking trail meanders around 200 to 300 m above Lake Garda on the slope of the Altissimo. The highlight of the path are the three stairs attached to the rock with a total of. 400 steps.   • Fiera di Santa Maria Maddalena. The mass takes place annually on July 22nd, the day of St. Mary Magdalene, in Torbole and dates back to 1774.
  • Broccolo di Torbole. The Broccolo di Torbole Committee organizes gastronomic events with free cauliflower tastings on two Saturdays in December at the small port of Torbole.
