Weather and climate

The climate is almost Mediterranean. The winters are mild and the summers are very warm.

Because of the proximity to the mountains, the weather is seldom constant. A thunderstorm can approach relatively quickly. But it can get warm and sunny just as quickly if it was rainy and stormy. Weather forecasts are less reliable here than in other areas.

Due to the nature of the shore, there are sometimes strong and constant winds on Lake Garda. Due to the different warming of mountains and water, thermal rises occur when the weather is nice, which creates a strong north wind in the morning and a strong south wind in the afternoon. These conditions are also the reason why numerous international sailing and surfing frigates are held every year.

The trees bend in the wind

Winds on Lake Garda:

  • The Ora one of the main winds, it blows from the south to the north. It starts at noon and blows into the early evening hours. A Orisina is a light ora in weak sunlight or cloudy weather.
  • Another major wind is that Pelér, also called Vento (Italian for wind), Súer or north wind. It is a north wind that starts in the second half of the night and lasts until mid-morning. In the summer from June to September it blows extremely reliably. A Peleri is a weak Pelér and Pelerot is stronger than usual.
  • The Bali comes through a valley northwest of Riva and blows over the lake until it is thrown back from the mountains near Navene to the middle of the lake. It usually starts after snowfall in the mountains or in summer after it has cooled down significantly. It is much stronger than the Pelér and can be dangerous. Be careful, most accidents happen on such days.
  • The Ponale is a summery westerly wind that blows in the afternoon and evening or at night. It comes from the Ledro Valley and blows towards the east coast.
  • The Montes is a light wind that blows from the mountains on the east bank to the lake in the evening.
  • The Vént dé la Val When the weather is good, it blows in the Campione area and blows in the evening after sunset.
  • The Vént da courage is a westerly wind that mainly sets in in summer. It blows in the Gargnano area or comes through the Toscolano valley.
  • The Vinessa is an easterly wind that occurs a few hours after the occurrence of the Bora, the northeast wind of the Adriatic, occurs on southern Lake Garda.
  • The Fassanella blows across the lake and is composed of several winds coming from the southwest.
  • The At the is a rare summer southerly wind caused by thunderstorms in the Desenzano area.
  • The Vént dé Tép seldom sets in, only when there are the first warmth storms in summer after a long period of time without cooling.

trips

  • The Monte Baldo rises between the Adige and Lake Garda and is a mountain ridge about 30 kilometers long. Due to the climatic influence of Lake Garda, it is possible that many very different natural habitats coexist there, starting with the Mediterranean macchia over the pastures in the middle up to the rocky region of the highest peaks. Its highest peaks are Monte Altissimo di Nago (2,079 meters), Cima del Longino, Cima delle Pozzette (2,179 meters), Cima Valdritta (2,218 meters) and Punto Telegrafo (2,200 meters). Of Malcesine From there you have the opportunity to explore the mountain with a rotating panoramic cable car and enjoy the unique view of the lake.
  • The Lake Ledro lies at an altitude of 655 m in the Valle di Ledro between Riva del Garda and Limone
  • The one to the west of Verona Sigurtá Park is a very extensive park over several hills that can be roamed through on foot, by bike or with an electric golf cart. The well-tended grounds in the style of an English landscape garden with lawns in golf turf quality impress with thousands of tulip blossoms in spring, but thanks to the lush planting with flowering bushes, it is worth a trip in good weather in every season of the year.
