What see

Tenno Castle
  • 1 Tenno Castle. Built at the end of the twelfth century, between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries it was the subject of battles and sieges. Following the damage reported, restoration work was necessary at the end of the 15th century. In 1920 it lost its keep but still retains the escarpment walls and the fortification elements of the village below.
  • 2 Lake of Tenno (Tennosee or Thennersee in German). The lake is located a few steps from the medieval village of Tenno canal (or Villa Canale). The basin is of unique origin and was formed following the landslide of the hill of Ville del Monte which blocked the course of its tributary. It is the sixth lake in the Trentino. It can only be reached on foot via a long medieval staircase. Its waters, very clear and of a blue green color, are suitable for bathing; its beaches are free and equipped.
The period of birth of the lake dates back to around the year 1100. Previously the two valleys of Ballino and Magnone converged in the area. A landslide of colossal proportions which most likely detached from Mount Misone filled the area, forming a basin and blocking the course of the Rì Sec stream; in the first years following the landslide, the water completely filled the basin but subsequently the pressure caused a tunnel to open in the hill of Ville Del Monte, causing the lake to drop to its current level around 1400.
Two tributaries flow into the lake: the most important is the Rì Sec; the second tributary is the Laurel stream which, despite its very short course of just 100 meters, has a considerable flow of water, water that never exceeds 5 ° C. The only emissary is the Picinino stream which then flows into the Magnone river from where the Varone waterfalls.
Lake of Tenno
Lake Tenno has an island with an area of 3000 square meters. The island separates the large rounded area to the north with the small arm to the south. No road connections from neighboring villages arrive directly on the coast. Motorized navigation is prohibited. The beaches of the island are perfectly round in shape. In low periods, a rock called Isola dell'86 appears because it appeared for the first time in 1986. On this rock a metal plaque has been cemented with the date and the authors of the work written on it. (Boys from Ville del Monte).
In recent years the level of the lake is quite low and the island (which is considered a biotope) is connected to the land by a stone road, more or less wide depending on the water level present. Recently, however, the water supply is increasing and the lake seems to be regaining consistency.

Located between the territory of Tenno and that of Riva del Garda, have a height of almost 100 meters and originate from the Magnone stream, which flows under the Ravizze valley and descends towards the Lake Garda. Its waters are fed by the underground leaks of Lake Tenno which for a short distance goes into the mountain and then forms the waterfall. The name Varone instead originates from the town Varone located a short distance away. The Varone waterfall was inaugurated on June 20, 1874; godparents were the King of Saxony, Giovanni, and Prince Nicholas of Montenegro, who were on holiday near Riva del Garda. It has since become a must visit for all tourists and is still considered one of the proud citizens today.
