Nagyatád [nadjatAd] is a city in Southern Transdanubia in Hungary.

Nagyatád is located on a plain. Kaposvár found 36, Pécs 70, Budapest 190 kilometers (by air).

History

The first Hungarian mention of Nagyatád took place in 1190. The area belonged first to the queen, then to a magnate family. In 1475 it was an opidium, but the Turks had it between 1555-1586, then between 1744-1871 Nagyatád was again an opidium. The community was urbanized in 1971. During World War II in that place the fighting lasted 4 months, which brought damage.

Nagyatád is located in a temperate, continental climate, like the whole of Hungary.
