History
The Romans already had a road and a place to live in that place. The first Hungarian mention took place in 1242, but there was a neighboring village mentioned as early as 1082. Soon the 2 villages were united. In 1472 a fort was built, earlier also a monastery. Sometimes the Turks occupied the fort, earlier the Hungarians exploited the monastery, as this was strategically more important. In the following peaceful times Nagyvázsony was like an opidium. The present village is a significant tourist destination with a festival.
Legend of Kinizsi
There is a well-known legend about w: en: Paul Kinizsi, [kiniĵi] that all visitors must know.

Kinizsi was a simple worker in a mill when King W: en: Matthias I arrived. The king was thirsty and asked for water. Kinizsi placed the glass on a millstone - (because there was no tray) - and handed it over with one arm. Matthias admired and said: Such a strong man must be a soldier in my army! In fact, he also became famous in the battlefield, as an army commander.
