Tourist Attractions
- 1 Friday mosque (Masjed-e Jom'e). Originally, the construction of the mosque goes back to the early 9th century, making it the oldest surviving mosque in the Persian region. Over the centuries, the mosque was expanded again and again, but retained its original character. What is special is that there are large subterranean rooms under the mosque which offer protection for the faithful in winter and which may come from pre-Islamic times. Light falls into the rooms through shafts that are covered by thin, translucent alabaster panels.
- 2 Narin fortress (Narin Qala). Little is known about the fortress, which was built entirely from adobe bricks. Today it has largely fallen apart and protrudes from the middle of the city.
- 3 Mosalla mosque
