Navarre - historical land in the western part Pyrenees on the verge Spain and France. Navarre is part of the historic Basque Country. Part of the French department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques, now known as Lower Navarre (Fr. Basse-Navarre), used to be under the authority of Navarre.
The Autonomous Community of Navarre (Spanish Comunidad Foral de Navarra, bask. Nafarroako Foru Erkidegoa), which is also the Province of Navarre (Spanish Provincia de Navarra, bask. Nafarroako Probintzia), borders on the provinces: Guipúzcoa, Álava (both in the community Basque Country), Zaragoza, Hueska (both v Aragon), La Rioja and z France.
