Nieborów is a historical place in Poland in the voivodeship Łódź. The place is known for its baroque castle with the romantic garden in neighboring Arkadia.

background

The place was first mentioned in the 14th century and historically belonged to Mazovia. A palace in the late Gothic and early Renaissance style was built at the transition to Neuweise. primate Michael Stephan Radziejowski acquired the place in the 17th century and left the castle from Tilman van Gameren expand in baroque style. In 1774 the castle passed to the Radziwiłł magnate family, who had the romantic garden laid out at the end of the 18th century. The place came successively to Prussia in 1795, to the Duchy of Warsaw in 1807 and to the Russian Congress of Poland in 1815. After the First World War, Nieborów became Polish again. The Radziwiłł remained the owners of the castle until the Second World War.
