There is no station in Nieuwkoop. Alphen a/d Rijn and Woerden are the nearest stations. Trains run from these places at least every half hour to Utrecht, Leiden and via Gouda to Rotterdam and The Hague.

By bus

Public transport is regularly available in most villages, albeit mainly on working days. Bus 147 runs every hour (on working days every half hour) between Uithoorn and Alphen a/d Rijn via Nieuwveen, Noordeinde, Zevenhoven, Nieuwkoop and Aarlanderveen. Bus 184 runs every hour from Monday-Friday during the day from Nieuwveen via Papeveer and Langeraar to Alphen a/d Rijn. On working days, line 101 runs a few times a day between Nieuwkoop and Woerden v.v. Bus 123 runs every half hour on working days and every hour on Saturdays. There is no bus service nearby on Sundays. Although most villages are reasonably accessible by bus, Woerdense Verlaat is extremely poor. The nearest bus stop is on the N212, about 3 km east of Woerdense Verlaat.

Two Long Distance Walking Routes run through Nieuwkoop: The Pelgrimspad (LAW 7) and the Marskramerpad (LAW 3). Detailed information can be found on the site walking net]. The Marskramerpad is part of a European walking route, the E11.

pedlar path / E11

The E11 runs from the Hague to the east, at this time to the border Poland/Lithuania. The route can be found at internet, comes from Woubrugge in the municipality Kaag and Braassem and runs along the south side of Langeraar via the villages of Papenveer, Nieuwveen, Noordeinde, Zevenhoven, Noorden and Woerdense Verlaat towards breakage. The route here leads for an important part on asphalt roads along ditches and a few lakes, through open landscape.

Pilgrim's path

The Pegrimspad runs from Amsterdam nasty visé in Belgium. The route comes from Uithoorn and largely runs along old towpaths through the meadows via Aarlanderveen to Zwammerdam.
