The nearest airport is that of Weeze (IATA: NRN) which, however, is located across the border, in German territory. The low cost Ryanair operates seasonal and non-seasonal flights from several Italian airports to Weeze airport. The cheapest and most comfortable way to reach Nijmegen is to board one of the shuttle buses that go up to Amsterdam and making intermediate stops a Utrecht and Nijmegen precisely. The cost of the one-way ticket is € 18 for 2017. Reservations are required as specified on the airport website. You could also use a train as the nearby centers of Weeze and Kevelaer have a train station but you may be subject to more than one train change and the price may be high for international routes. The works concerned the spaces of the choir and the side chapels and in the following century the transept was built and the tower acquired a new floor to house the mechanical clock. During the bombings of February 22, 1944, the tower collapsed and the church was severely damaged. The subsequent restorations lasted until 1969, the year in which it was again consecrated in the presence of the prince consort.
