Nonnweiler is the northernmost municipality in Saarland, it is located about 45 km southeast of trier at the edge of the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park. The community is a climatic health resort

The municipality of Nonnweiler consists of the town of the same name and the towns of Bierfeld, Braunshausen (with Mariahütte), Kastel, Nonnweiler, Otzenhausen, Primstal, Schwarzenbach and Sitzerath. The Prims flows through the municipality, it is a right tributary of the Saar.
