Urban centers

  • Morpeth - County seat of Northumberland.
  • Alnwick - In 2002 the magazine Country Life, calls Alnwick the most picturesque market town in Northumberland, and the best place inEngland to live in.
  • Amble by the Sea - Port center on the North Sea coast, located at the mouth of the Coquet River.
  • Berwick-upon-Tweed - At the end of the barrier built on the northern side of the River Tweed mouth is a lighthouse from 1826.
  • Cramlington - Plessey Woods Country Park is located just north of Cramlington.
  • Hexham - Built around the monastery founded in 674 by Saint Vilfrid of York; Roman remains have also been found in the basement, perhaps part of Hadrian's Wall.
  • Seahouses - Seahouses attracts many visitors, who often come here while visiting the Northumberland National Park, the coast and the Farne islands.
