Zakarpattia region (Ukrainian Закарпатська область, Hungarian Kárpátalja) - one of the 24 regions Ukraine. It is located in the western part of Ukraine, in the historical area of Transcarpathia. It borders with Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania. The population of the region is 1,258,264 inhabitants (2001), the area is 12,777 km². The capital of the region is Uzhhorod. The circuit was established on January 22, 1946.
