Opoczno - city in Poland, in voivodeship of Lodz, in Opoczno district, the seat of the urban-rural commune of Opoczno. Located on the Wąglanka River, at the end of the Przedborska Upland, historically in Małopolska.

In 1880, the production of ceramic tiles was launched, today known under the brand "Opoczno" or "Opoczno S.A."

Historically belongs to Lesser Poland. It was located in the Sandomierz Province, then in the Sandomierz Province (the First Republic), then it was the seat of the poviat. In the years 1975-1998, the city administratively belonged to the then Piotrków Province, and before 1975 to the Kielce Province.

History
