History

Railway played an important role in the development of Koluszki.

  • September 2, 1846 - the first train departed from Koluszki to Piotrków Trybunalski Warsaw-Vienna Railway
  • On November 19, 1865, the transport of goods and raw materials was officially launched on the railway line from Koluszki and Łódź Fabryczna (The Iron Road Fabryczno-Łódzka). Later, there were projects to connect Łódź with this railway line, which were systematically rejected by the tsarist administration.

It was not until 1864 that a project was made to connect Łódź with the Warsaw-Vienna railway, which also included a variant of its possible extension to Kalisz. The project was accepted, but only in the variant to Łódź, without permission to extend the route. According to the concession, the junction station was to be located between Rogów and Rokiciny, and the final position was Koluszki. The concession of July 1865 allowed the line to be operated for 75 years. Construction works on the 27-meter-long section lasted 3 months from September to November 1865. The work was done by hand, and the land and goods were transported by horse-drawn carts, 2,400 people worked on the construction of the line. Initially, only goods were transported. Passenger trains did not start until June 1, 1866, after all, the railway was not built for the transport of passengers, but mainly for cargo.
