Otjiwarongo is a city in Central Namibia in the region Otjozondjupa. The name comes from the Herero and means pretty place or where the cattle are fat.
background
Otjiwarongo was founded in 1904 with the opening of the station on the railway line Swakopmund - Tsumeb founded. Originally there was only one mission station here, which has now been supplemented by an outpost of the German protection force. As a result, the place prospered.
