In the years 1975–1998, the city administratively belonged to the then Łódź Province.

The city covers the area of ​​1546 ha, or 15.46 km², and it is 1.81% of the district's area. 53% of the city's area is occupied by arable lands, 17% by residential areas, 8% by forests and green areas.

In 1415, the first (and for several centuries the only) mention of a small village among hard-to-reach forests and swamps, belonging to the Szczawiński family, appeared. In 1807, the then owner of Ozorków, Ignacy Starzyńskiwanting to revive his goods economically, he brought from Saxony textiles: 19 cloth makers and dyers. In 1815, the population increased to 117 people, then Łódź had 331.

In 1816, Ozorków was granted municipal rights as a private town, which allowed it to accelerate its development. In 1821, the Schlösser family, who had come from Aachenwho set up a large modern wool mill first, and then a cotton mill. In this way, Ozorków initiated the development of the textile industry over the upper one Bzuraregardless of development Zgierz and Łódź, creating z Aleksandrow Łódzki and Konstantynów Łódzki the largest center of the textile industry in Poland.

At the beginning of the 1920s, Ozorków received a railway connection with Łódź and Kutno, and with the electrification of the city carried out in 1928, it received electric tram communication with Zgierz and Łódź (in the years 1922-1928 the tram cars were pulled by a steam locomotive, then the tram was electrified).

In the interwar period, municipal facilities were added to the town, such as the Kasa Chorych building, 2 primary schools, a bathing facility and a summer camp for children in the municipal forest.
