Panaji is the capital of indian State Goa.

Panaji or Panjim is located in the northern district of Goa on the banks of the Mandovi River. The city is also the administrative seat of the Taluga (sub-district) Tiswadi. Under the rule of the Portuguese, Panaji was initially just a suburb of the capital Velha Goa, in 1843 the place was named Nova Goa Capital of the colony. There are still a number of colonial-style buildings from this period.
