Pang Mapha is a sparsely populated district in the province Mae Hong Son in the mountains Northern Thailand. Its main place is called Sop pong(Thai: สบ ป่อง). He lies between Pai and Mae Hong Son.
getting there
Sop Pong is located on the extremely curvy, but now paved, national road 1095. From Pai (where there is a small airport) it is about 40 kilometers by road to the center of Sop Pong. The journey takes about an hour. Of Mae Hong Son (There is also an airport there) it is about 65 kilometers. This route takes just under 1½ hours.
Minivans and local buses are available from Mae Hong Son and Pai. Minivans run about every hour during the day, cost 150 baht and take one hour from Pai and 1½ hours from Mae Hong Son. The slower, non-air-conditioned buses run once a day (it is best to find out about the current departure time in good time), take 1½ hours from Pai (costs 80 Baht), from Mae Hong Son 2½ hours (99 Baht).

shop
There is a mini market, a 7-Eleven and an ATM.
Tuesday is market day in Sop Pong. Then residents of the surrounding villages come to the place and offer their goods for sale. This is a good opportunity to see the members of the various peoples (Lisu, Karen, Shan, black and red Lahu, sometimes also Hmong), some in their traditional costumes, and to take impressive photos (if those concerned agree). The market lasts from early morning to noon.
