The network of National parks of Sweden, managed by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (in Swedish: Naturvårdsverket), includes 29 national parks in Sweden.
The first parks were established in 1909 thanks to the promulgation of a special law. The goal was to create a number of national parks that would represent the peculiarities of all the different regions of Sweden.The latest national park established is to Kosterhavet, inaugurated by the king on 9 September 2009.
The Lapland Area, an area of 9,600 square kilometers located in Swedish Lapland, was included in 1996 among the World Heritage Sites ofUNESCO. 95% of this region is protected and falls within the territories of Muddus National Park, of the Padjelanta National Park, of the Sarek National Park he was born in Stora Sjöfallet National Park.
Even the Skuleskogen national park since 2000 it is located within an area declared a World Heritage Site: theHöga kusten, that is the part of the Swedish coast overlooking the Gulf of Bothnia.
