History

During the Prussian partition, in the 19th century, there was an increase in interest in the Table Mountains. It was then that tourism and industry (including wood) developed. During the Second World War, this area did not suffer any major damage, but it was in the sphere of interest of the Czechs, who entered the area after the capitulation of the Third Reich. After the war, Poles were relocated to this area (including those from the Eastern Borderlands), several factories were built, although small, but from environmental groups that were harmful to the environment (e.g. glassworks in Szczytna, textile factories in Kudowa-Zdrój).

In 1993, a national park was created, which was created from the transformation of the Stołowogórski Landscape Park. Since then, its borders have not changed much, and recently the number of tourists has been growing strongly (480,000 - 2015, 1,063,000 - 2018).

Climate

The climate in the Stołowe Mountains is influenced by the masses of polar, arctic, moderately continental, subtropical air and air from the upper atmosphere. The growing season lasts about 27 weeks and begins in mid-April in the valleys, and at the end of April in the plateaus. The annual rainfall, depending on the height, ranges from 800 to 1100 mm.
