O Serra da Bocaina National Park is on the border of the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

It was created in 1971, with an area of 98 thousand ha., 60% of which is covered by native forest. Its headquarters are in the city of São José do Barreiro, in São Paulo.

Flora and fauna
- Flora: Atlantic Forest predominates. On the Plateau, there are araucarias and maritime pines (native species). On the banks of rivers, orchids are common.
- Fauna: marmoset, howler, anteater, otter, tapir, agouti, capybara, hedgehog, bush deer, sloth, penacho hawk, jacutinga, cuiu-cuiu, macauco, black-billed toucan.

- Rain: from 1,500 to 2,000 mm/year
- Average annual temperature of 23ºC, reaching 0ºC in winter (June and July).

- In São Paulo, through the BR-116/Via Dutra until queluz, later SP-058 for Sands and then, SP-068 until São José do Barreiro.
- Of Rio de Janeiro, through the BR-116/Via Dutra until Bar Mansa, then by RJ-157/SP-064 until Bananal and finally SP-068 to São José do Barreiro.
- These are the best ways to reach the entrance to the Park, although it also extends to the municipalities of Bananal, Sands, Wedge, Paraty and Angra dos Reis.

- Hat off peak, the highest point of Serra da Bocaina, with 2,200 m. From the park entrance there is a three-hour walk. From the top, you can see the entire Bay of Paraty.
