Peschici is a coastal town with approx. 4,400 inhabitants on the Gargano-Peninsula in the province Foggia. The old town is located on a limestone cliff, in the plain west of the port there are new development areas, hotels and campsites.

Peschici is located in the park area of ​​the Gargano National Park directly on the sea on a 100 m high Limestone cliffs on the northeast tip of the Gargano Peninsula. There are several watchtowers along the entire coast; they were built in the 16th century to protect against pirates.

The city was first mentioned near 970 when new houses were built on the ruins of a building destroyed by the Saracens; the people who settled here were of Slavic descent. Later, the place came in the conflict between the papacy under Pope Gregory IX and the Stauffer Emperor Friedrich II, under whom the fortifications - after he had remained victorious - were expanded.

Supported by the Albanian military leader Skanderbeg, who is allied with the Spaniards, claims of the Venetians can be repulsed and the Gargano Peninsula comes under the rule of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, which is ruled from Naples. After countless attacks by Saracens and the massacre of Viest around 1554, it was decided to build ten "Saracen towers" for defense.

In the fascist era, efforts were made to expand the infrastructure in rural Gargano, the construction of the Gargano railway and the Acquedotto Pugliese for water transport to the south (up to Santa Maria di Leuca is being tackled. In 1998 a Peschici syndicate won the main prize in the national lottery, and since then people in Italy have been hoping to be lucky in the lottery, like the Peschiciani - the significance has expanded to include all the lucky ones.
