Peter (Saint Petersburg St. Petersburg) is Russian the second largest city with about five million inhabitants. St. Petersburg is located at the bottom of the Gulf of Finland, at the mouth of the Neva River. The city was formerly also known by the names Petrograd (Petrograd) and Leningrad (Ленинград). St. Petersburg is the northernmost city in the world with more than a million inhabitants.

Come

By road

You can get to Russia from several border crossing points in Finland. Due to the varying condition of Russian roads, it may make sense to travel closer on the Finnish side, and use southern border stations. With the sharp increase in private motoring in recent years, the need has arisen in St. Petersburg to build new main and motorways. In St. Petersburg it is good to prepare for congestion, you can watch nakarte.rambler.ru Read about the country-specific preparations for Russia from here.

By plane

Pulkovo Airport, located about 8 kilometers south of the city center, serves air passengers. The majority of foreign flights operate to the Pulkovo-2 terminal. Pulkovo-1 serves domestic traffic in Russia.

By boat

From Helsinki can be reached from St. Petersburg by St. Peter Line [1] on board and both Finnish and foreign ship tourists are allowed to stay in St. Petersburg without a visa for 72 hours. The ship travels three times a week. St Peter Line transports from the port of St. Petersburg by minibus to the center to Isaac's Square and back, it is worth checking the timetables and places online [2] or ship information. A shuttle bus ticket is also required to get to the city from the port (info provided), no ticket is required for minibuses on the way back. The boarding card should also be kept. Alcoholic beverages purchased in St. Petersburg are left on board the so-called for a bottle-rich voyage and given back when the ship arrives in Helsinki.

By train

The easiest way to get to St. Petersburg from Finland is by train [3] or by bus. Allegro trains on the Helsinki-St. Petersburg route operate four times a day. In addition, once a day there is a bus to Moscow via St. Petersburg.

By bus

The cheapest way to get to St. Petersburg from Helsinki is a car of a Russian bus company. Departures daily at 11:00 and 20:00. In the vicinity of the tennis palace for about 10 - 30 euros per direction per person. Tickets are purchased from the driver, seats can be reserved in advance if you speak Russian and know the bus company's phone number.

Finnish bus companies (Savonlinja, Saimaa traffic) also operate to St. Petersburg. Tickets are normally reasonably priced, and in addition you can get discounts in accordance with Finnish practice (student, pensioner, etc.) with appropriate discount cards. Learn more about Matkahuolto [4] pages.

Estonian Lux Express [5] has started operating between Helsinki and St. Petersburg from the beginning of June 2014. The trip costs about 25 - 32 euros one way. They often have about 50% offers. Buses run three times a day in both directions. The buses have a small video screen in each seat where you can watch movies or surf the internet on a limited basis. The bus has a toilet and a free coffee / cocoa machine.

The student way

Imatran from the city center is Svetogorskin less than five kilometers to the bus station. The locality is therefore quite popular with exchange students and terrace tourists crossing the border by bicycle. Buses To Vyborg goes a day at just over half past two, noon and between four most cars. Don't leave too late! From Vyborg there are plenty of connecting rides by train, bus and "taxi", which will attract you to the bus platform before the car leaves. Train station open 24h. For a small fee, the bike can be left in the hotel’s guarded car park or tied up in thick birch with great tension. In winter, it is quite common to walk to the Finnish border station and ask for a ride from passing cars. You can get a ride quite quickly.

It is also relatively easy to hike from Helsinki to St. Petersburg.

St. Petersburg metro map (2009)

St. Petersburg is home to Russia's second largest metro network [6] and it is the most comfortable and easiest way to move around St. Petersburg. However, it should be noted that compared to many other major cities, the distance between the two adjacent stations is also long in the city center, and there are places in the city center that are within a half-hour walk from the nearest metro stop. During the afternoon rush hour (17-19), some metro stations (e.g. Vasileostrovskaya) are really congested, and queuing at the metro station itself can take half an hour. In the late evenings the subways are pleasantly spacious.

Metro operates with a token system and tokens (zheton) can be purchased from metro stations for 55 rubles. There is no time or travel limit for one token. It is worth buying a slightly larger number of tokens at a time, as they are guaranteed to run out when there are queues of one hundred meters at the checkouts. Many stations have vending machines where you can buy tokens. You can even do business when a busy Russian wants to buy one of the tokens you just bought for a little more expensive to avoid queues.

The St. Petersburg subway is said to be the deepest subway in the world due to the swampy quality of the soil and the resulting technical problems in subway construction. The red line metro stations from Ploshad Vosstanya to Avtovo in particular are well worth a visit. These stations are the oldest metro stations in the St. Petersburg metro. Although the red line metro stations are descriptive, photography in the metro is restricted by the metro user rule (Правила пользования пункт 9.17.), Which means that shooting is fully allowed if you do not use the flash, ie the use of the flash is prohibited (whereas before 2010 it was completely prohibited). representation). When traveling by metro, it should be noted that different lines often have stations with different names at the same point. So if you change the line on the green line at Gostinyj Dvor station, you are on the blue line at Nevsky Prospekt station. Two intersections with the same name on both intersecting lines are Tehnologitsheskij Institut and Ploshad Aleksandra Nevskogo. As of January 2009, St. Petersburg also has one intersection of three lines: Sennaja Plostshad (line 3) -Spasskaya (line 4) -Sadovaya (line 5). Metro map: [7]. After the opening of the fifth line, there will also be small changes in the routes of the other lines; therefore, old metro route maps cannot be fully relied upon. (The attached map is up to date.) Subway stations display valid maps.

By bus and trolley

Bus, tram and trolley tickets

The city also has a comprehensive bus and trolley network. [8] Route maps can be found in bookstores and kiosks. The ticket is paid either to the driver or, in most cases, to the ticket seller who travels on the buses. The price is visible on the buses and varies according to the line, but most often 18 or 32 rubles. The intervals can vary widely. During peak times, buses can be very crowded, and there is nothing worth breaking when trying to join. It can also be difficult for a larger party to fit on the same bus. When traveling by bus, tram, and trolley, keep the ticket until you leave, as tickets may be checked during the trip. Traveling without a ticket will be fined.

By route taxi

In route taxis, or marshrutk, the trip is paid to the driver. If the taxi is full and you are far from the driver, the charge for the trip can be given to the person in front and say (or show with your fingers) how many passengers the charge is. Line taxis stop only at terminals or when passengers embark or disembark. You can get on board from almost anywhere along the route by lifting your hand in front. If you want the line taxi to stop to exit, the word "Stop" at the latest will cause the taxi to stop.

By tram

Trams have recently been effectively evicted from the center of St. Petersburg. On the other hand, they could not proceed in congestion, as there were quite a few separate tram lanes. When demand was at its peak during peak hours, wagons could not move forward, so they were almost always empty. In the suburbs, however, trams still run and have even a few low-floor wagons piped into the streets from the city’s own tram factory.

St. Petersburg still had the largest tram system in the world at the end of the Soviet era, but of the 64 lines then celebrated, there are only 38 left today. [9]

With electric stove

Elektritska is the Russian equivalent of a commuter train. St. Petersburg can be reached by commuter trains, e.g. To Vyborg, Terijoelle, Veliky Novgorod and To Moscow. In addition, electric lifts are the cheapest option when traveling to visit nearby palaces. Keep the ticket as it is needed at some stations to get out of the station. St. Petersburg's main stations and metro interchanges have gates to which the reader's ticket is entered or shown to the gatekeeper to get out.

There are five operating railway stations in St. Petersburg:

In addition, there is one old station that still appears in some travel guides:

  • Warsaw station has been decommissioned almost 10 years ago and no more trains leave. The building serves as a shopping center and there is also a railway museum.

Schedules [10] can be viewed from the internet or from station walls. Schedules change at the turn of May-June and at the end of October, when small schedule booklets may be found at the stations for a while.

See

St. Petersburg Palace Square in the morning before the arrival of tourists. On the right is the Winter Palace, in the background the dome of the Church of St. Isaac and the Admiralty.

St. Petersburg itself is already an attraction and the historic center of St. Petersburg is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. As such, the suburbs of St. Petersburg, built during the Soviet era, are also worth seeing.

Keep in mind, however, that the place has strict “Face control” that does not allow drunken behavior, chewing gum / candy, your own drinks, or under the age of 18. Upon check-in, you can show a copy of your passport or your driving license / ID card when you ask for it. If the body check reveals anything, the goods will be confiscated in the safe, where they can be inquired about when going out. The downstairs bar is somewhat famous for its familiar female customers. Floor music styles at Metro Club: 1st floor: Russian modern and Eurodance, 2nd floor: Tekno & House and 3rd floor: Dj mixes.
  • XXXX Bar 3-Sovetskaya 34. The absolute bow of the 7-bar chain is located on 3 Soviet streets. Tickets on weekends are 1000 rubles for men and 500 rubles for women, in addition to which guests must pass a strict face control. This place leaves no one cold, and due to its popularity, it is also popular with many foreigners. Spend a memorable evening on the top stage or at the bar counter dancing! The bar often offers a special program and the bar girls pull their own shows from one evening to the next. From the drink list, you can especially recommend 1 liter of Tsarskoe vodka, which you can get for cheap 2000 rubles. The place is especially popular with the upper middle class elite, but the customers are generally very friendly. Finnish tourists are warmly welcomed here with open arms. Huhujen mukaan baarin rauhallista ilmapiiriä kuitenkin terrorisoi toistuvasti viiden suomalaisen alkoholistin seurue.

Riskit Pietarissa

Crime / violence: Quite low On weekends, drunk people, pickpockets, bike thieves. Yöaikaan kannattaa välttää yksin kulkemista ja pimeitä takseja.
Corruption: IntermediateThere is corruption among the police.
Transport: IntermediateThe traffic culture is chaotic.
Health: Quite lowThe HIV situation is worse than the European average.

Gorohovaja-katu

Hinnasta on aina sovittava etukäteen.

Tavalliselle tallaajalle suurimman riskitekijän aiheuttaa suomalaisella mittapuulla kaoottinen liikenne.

Rikollisten lisäksi kannattaa välttää Venäjän Poliisia, vaikka miliisi on jo lakkautettu vuonna 2011.

Stay healthy

Ehdottomasti suosituin merkki on biceptol (бисептол).

Take contact

Kaupungin sisäiset lankapuhelut ovat Pietarissa ilmaisia. Puhelut Suomeen maksavat 2 euroa/per minuutti.Suomen konsulaatti osoitteessa 4 Preobrazenskaya Pl. Tel. 7 812 331 76 00

Venäläisen GSM-liittymän hankkiminen kannattaa, puheluiden hinnat ovat yleensä < 0.05 $USD/min. Mainoksia kadunvarsilla on runsaasti. Liittymät ovat Pre-Paid -liittymiä, maksu onnistuu lähes jokaisen kauppakeskuksen ja lähikaupankin ovenpielessä olevalla automaatilla. Automaatti (kauppa/kauppias) ottaa n. 5% komission suoritetusta maksusta.

Esim. kaveriporukalla liikkuessa kannattaa hankkia kaikille saman operaattorin GSM-liittymät.

Continue your journey

Päiväretket Pietarin lähiympäristöön ovat tavattoman suosittuja. Pietarin ympäristössä sijaitseekin lukemattomia upeita päiväretkikohteita.

  • Hatsina — Puisto ja museo. Junat Baltian asemalta, metro Baltijskaja. Kaikki Lugan suuntaan menevät junat pysähtyvät Hatsina-Varshavskin asemalla. Kannattaa jäädä pois jo Tatjaninossa, jos juna pysähtyy. Hatsinaan pääsee myös toista reittiä, jolloin junien pääteasema on Hatsina-Baltijskij. Tämä asema on aivan palatsin vieressä. Palatsissa on vielä paljon kunnostettavaa.
  • Lomonosov — Puisto ja museo. Lähellä Pietarhovia. Junat Baltian asemalta Oranienbaum 1-asemalle, metro Baltijskaja.
  • Kronstadt — Aikaisemmin suljettu, nykyisin avoin, vihreä sotilassaari Pietarin edustalla. Bussi 101 Staraja Derevnjan metroasemalta, reittitaksi 405 Tshornaja Retshkan metroasemalta.
  • Repino — Ilja Repinin taiteilijakoti.
  • Velikij Novgorod — Suomenkin historiaan voimakkaasti vaikuttanut ikivanha kaupunki jossa sijaitsee paljon erilaisia museoita. Hitaat junat Vitebskin asemalta. Aamukahdeksan tienoilla hiukan nopeampi yhteys Moskovan asemalta. Illalla noin viideltä pikajuna Moskovan asemalta. Bussilla 948 nopeammin linja-autoasema 2:lta Obvodnij Kanalin varresta (lähin metroasema Ligovsky Prospekt)
  • Pavlovsk — Valtava puistoalue ja palatsi. Tänne liikennöi elektritska, joka lähtee Vitebskin rautatieasemalta, metro Pushkinskaja.
  • Pietarhovi — Venäjän Versailles. Pietari Suuren palatsi valtavine suihkulähteineen. Elektritskat Baltian asemalta Novyi Petergofin asemalle. Bussit 200 ja 210 Avtovon metroasemalta. Kesällä Pietarhoviin pääsee myös kantosiipialuksella.
  • Pushkin eli Tsarskoje Selo aka. Detskoje Selo — Pieni kaupunki noin 25 kilometriä Pietarista etelään. Hallinnollisesti se on tosin osa Pietarin kaupunkia. Suuri, kaunis puistoalue ja Katariinan palatsi. Katariinan palatsissa on muun muassa maailmankuulu meripihkahuone, joka on tosin kopio alkuperäisestä. Elektritskat Vitebskin asemalta, metro Pushkinskaja.
  • The nut castle — Saarilinnoitus Neva-joen yläpäässä Laatokan rannalla. Kesällä yhteys veneillä Shlisselburgista, jonne pääsee bussilla 575 Ulitsa Dybenkon metroasemalta ja bussilla 440 Proletarskajan metroasemalta. [25]
  • Vyborg, Elektritskat ja pikajunat Suomen-asemalta. Bussit Parnasin ja Devjatkinon metroasemilta.
  • Pskov, yksi vaihdoton ja kaksi hidasta junayhteyttä (vaihto Lugassa) Baltian asemalta ja suora iltajuna Vitebskin asemalta. Bussi 944 linja-autoasemalta Obvodnyi Kanalin tienoilta (lähin metro Obvodnyi Kanal)

Kesälauantai on hyvä päivä tutustua Pietariin omalla autolla, sillä liikenne keskustassa on hyvin hiljaista verrattuna arkipäiviin.
