Plettenberg Bay or Plettenbergbaai (Afrikaans), often for short Plett called, is a town on the Garden Route in South Africa.
background
The early Portuguese sailors named the bay Bahia Formosa, so beautiful bay, and that is true of Plettenberg Bay on the Garden Route. The area around is interesting for tourists Beacon Island, Central Beach and Lookout Beach, about 1 km inland is the small town center around Main Street.

By plane
The airport is just a few kilometers outside the city. There are no scheduled flights here at the moment.
By bus
All three major intercity bus companies in the country Greyhound, Intercape and Translux stop in Plett. The breakpoint for them is this Shell- Petrol station on the N2 national road, about 1km outside the city. The cheaper one BazBus, which is mainly used by backpackers, also operates here.

Plett is right on the national road N2 and through it is excellently connected to the national road network. The city is located about 250 km west of Port Elizabeth, or 530 km east of Cape Town. The oyster metropolis Knysna can be found about 35 km west of Plett.

The main points of the place can be explored on foot. There are also a few taxis in the city that can take you to your destination, especially in the dark. The cost of a taxi is 40-100 rand.
Tourist Attractions
- Robberg Peninsula. A nature reserve in the south of Plettenberg Bay with several hiking trails. It is home to a seal colony, during the season (June-Nov) you can watch southern right whales, orcas and dolphins can also be found in the waters. Another attraction is the Nelson Bay Cave, where Stone Age people left their mark. More information at Capenatur.Open: daily 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Dec Jan until 6 p.m.).Price: Entry ZAR 25.
- Birds of Eden and Monkeyland, at The crags, approx. 10 km north of Plettenberg Bay, accessible from the N2 on a 2 km long signposted access road. Admission to both sanctuaries is ZAR 125 each, or ZAR 200 as a combination.
- Keurboom Beach. At the mouth of the Keurboom River is a lagoon with a large breeding colony of seagulls.
