Mońki poviat - Powiat moniecki

Mońki poviat - poviat in Poland, in (Podlaskie Voivodeship), created in 1999 as part of an administrative reform. Its seat is in the city Mońki.

Information

The poviat consists of:

  • urban-rural communes: Mońki, Knyszyn, Goniądz
  • rural communes: Jasionówka, Jaświły, Krypno, Trzcianne
  • towns: Goniądz, Knyszyn, Mońki.

According to the data of the Central Statistical Office for 2010, the poviat's area is 1,385.39 km², 42,606 inhabitants live here, the population density in the poviat is 30.75 people per km², 14,330 inhabitants live in cities, which means that the poviat's urbanization is 35.64%.
An important tourist area is the Land of Loess Ravines.

Worth seeing

The most important tourist asset of the district is Biebrza National Park. There are numerous tourist routes connected with it, including canoe routes.
In the village Osowiec-Fortress the management is located BNP and is located Osowiec Fortress, a complex of 19th-century tsarist fortifications. Currently, it is partially renovated and open to the public. Four forts are entered in the register of monuments.
