Koszalin poviat - a district in the north-west Poland in West Pomeranian Voivodeship, created in 1999 as part of an administrative reform. Its seat is in the city Koszalin. Koszalin is not part of the Koszalin poviat, it is a city with poviat rights. The poviat is situated on the Słowiński Coast and on the Białogard Plain and the Słupsk Plain.
The poviat has a large seaside recreational base (in the Mielno commune), numerous agritourism farms, and the wood industry dominates in the southern part.
The area of the poviat is 1653.40 km², with 64 185 inhabitants. Women in cities 7165, in villages 24919. Population density 39.8 people / km². Urbanization 21.8%.
The poviat consists of:
- urban-rural communes: Bobolice, Mielno, Polanów, Sianów
- rural communes: Będzino, Biesiekierz, Manowo, Świeszyno
- cities: Bobolice, Mielno, Polanów, Sianów
The following roads pass through the poviat:
- National roads: 6: Szczecin – Gdansk (via Biesiekierz and Sianów), 11: Kolobrzeg - Bytom (via Będzino, Manowo and Bobolice) and 25: Bobolice - Oleśnica.
- Voivodeship roads: 165: Mielno - Mścice, 167: Koszalin - Tychowo (via Świeszyno), 168: Niedalino - Drzewiany, 169: Bobolice - Byszyno, 171: Bobolice - Czaplinek, 203: Koszalin - Ustka, 205: Bobolice - Sławno, 206 : Koszalin - Miastko, 208: Polanów - Barcino.
Few railway lines pass through the poviat: Stargard - Wejherowo (via Skibno [near Sianów]), Goleniów - Koszalin (via Będzino and Mścice), Mścice - Mielno Koszalińskie (open seasonally); narrow gauge: Koszalin Wąsk .. - Manowo - Rosnowo (open seasonally).
