Historical monuments

Evidence of the historical past of p. S. Are mainly in the communes of Chlewiska, Orońsko and Szydłowiec. The history of many localities located in the area of dates back to the Middle Ages. These localities owe their development to the exploration of natural resources, mainly sandstone stone and iron ores, followed by the development of the brewing, tanning and metal industries.

The urban complex of Szydłowiec is one of the most original in the region, [footnote needed] due to the monumental buildings: the parish church, the town hall and the castle (included in the 1st verification group) and the atypical history. the street layout, which, despite major transformations in the 19th and 20th centuries, has retained its medieval character. Other monuments in the city include: the Jewish cemetery, which is the largest Jewish cemetery in the sub-region, [note needed] the parish cemetery, housing the quarters of soldiers from World War I and II, and numerous quarries with the G. Trzech Krzyży.

The Center of Polish Sculpture is located in Orońsko, which is occupied by a 19th-century palace and park complex. It consists of restored buildings: a palace, an outhouse, a chapel, an orangery and farm buildings. The manor is associated with the person of J. Brandt, where he created and ran the school for the greater part of life.

In the seat of the commune Chlewiska are: the parish church. pw. st. Stanisław, erected at the beginning of the 16th century on the site of the first one from 1121, a defensive palace, a former castle of the Chlewiskis family erected in the late Middle Ages, a chapel on the island with a figure of St. John of Nepomuk and the Ironworks, built in 1882–1892 by the French Metallurgical Society.
