Mazowieckie is located in the central-eastern part of Poland, in the immediate vicinity of 6 voivodeships: Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Podlasie, Lublin, Świętokrzyskie, Łódź and Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. It flows through the Masovian Voivodeship Vistula, the largest river in Poland. Apart from that, the Narew, Wkra, Pilica, Bug and Bzura regions, which are direct tributaries of the Vistula, flow through the Masovian Voivodeship.

History

Historically, the Mazowieckie Province existed in the years 1526-1795 and 1816-1837. The present Masovian Voivodeship was created in 1999 from several former voivodeships, namely: Łomża, Biała Podlaska, Skierniewice, Płock, Siedlce, Ciechanów, Radom, Warsaw and Ostrołęka.

Economy
