It borders the Belgian provinces of Flemish Brabant North of Liege to the east, of Namur to the south andHainaut to the southwest.
Background
Walloon Brabant was formed in 1995 by the division of the former province of Brabant into three parts: two new provinces, Walloon Brabant and Flemish Brabant; and the Brussels-Capital Region. The division was carried out to accommodate (with delay) the division of Belgium into three regions (Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels).
