Puerto Piramides is a small place with around 500 inhabitants, it is on the Peninsula Valdés in the argentinian province Chubut. The name of the place comes from the numerous pyramid-shaped cliffs on the banks of the Golfo Nuevo back.

Puerto Piramides originated around 1900 when the salt of the 1 Salina Grande dismantle. At that time, a railway line was laid from the salt lake to the small port. After about 50 years, the now unprofitable salt mining was stopped and the railway was shut down.

In the street

Of Puerto Madryn leads the provincial road RP2 on the Peninsula Valdés. From this a gravel road branches off to Puerto Pirámides. Driving slowly is the order of the day, but oncoming vehicles can often be recognized by clouds of dust.
