The main character is Damien, a Roman legionary who supports Christians, at the time persecuted by the Roman Empire. Damien and the other Christian prisoners are condemned to the ordeal of the games, they face gladiators and then participate in a chariot race. They emerge victorious from both trials but the governor refuses to release them. The lions then enter the scene but refuse to attack the prisoners and it is the same for the tiger.
