The Burin peninsula is located in the south-east of the island of Newfoundland in the east of Canada.

The Burin Peninsula is located on the south coast of the island of Newfoundland. It juts out to the southwest and is bordered by Fortune Bay to the west and Placentia Bay to the east. It measures 130 km long and its width varies from 15 to 30 km. The southern end of the peninsula is the point of Canada closest to the archipelago French of Saint Pierre and Miquelon.

The peninsula was first named the Buria Peninsula. This is the name that fishermen basques gave him in the XVIe century.
