Quakenbrück lies in the north German lowlands about 50 km north of Osnabrück. Due to its half-timbered old town, Quakenbrück is also known as that "Rothenburg of the North" designated. Politically, by the way, Quakenbrück is the administrative seat of the Artland municipality.

Bicycle parking - There is a "large-capacity bicycle box" behind the town hall on the market square: The cage holds 15-20 bicycles. The key can be obtained from the tourist information office for a deposit. The tourist information office also offers luggage storage for a fee (for 2 euros per piece of luggage).

- Half-timbered old town - There are more than 100 half-timbered houses in the well-preserved old town. The cozy pedestrian zone invites you to stroll. The "Poggenpad" (marked by frogs' feet on the pavement) leads you to the sights of the old town:
- cozy market square - It is lined with half-timbered buildings. The European fountain stands on the square
- Town hall on the market built in the classical style with an outside staircase
- Burgmannshöfe
- City gate "Hohe Pforte" - The Gothic building from 1486 is the only remnant of the former fortification.
- St. Mary's Church - In the church are the remains of the former episcopal castle. The city was founded by the Osnabrück bishops to secure their possessions to the north.
- City museum on the market - The museum is located in a 200 year old trading house. You can see a collection on the city's history and an exhibition on historical handicrafts. By the way, Quakenbrück was a Hanseatic city
