Rangiroa is one of the Tuamotu Islands.

To know

Rangiroa is the most visited of the atolls that make up the group of Tuamotu. It encloses a vast lagoon of 70 x 26 km which is home to a varied underwater flora and fauna, dolphins but also sharks. Due to these characteristics, Rangiroa is more suitable for lovers of scuba diving. For the rest it is a quiet place whose beautiful landscapes are not able to meet the needs of extroverted characters and lovers of worldly living.

Territories and tourist destinations

Rangiroa has two villages each located at the entrances of the two passages that can be crossed by canals without the risk of running aground on the bottom:

  • Avatoru
  • Tiputa

Other destinations

  • Le Lagon Bleu - Lagoon at the entrance to the Tiputa passage where the dolphins perform spectacular acrobatics. It is also easy to encounter harmless black tip sharks and swim among them.
  • Les Sables Roses - Pink sand banks limited by palm groves.
  • île aux Récifs (Motu Ai Ai) - The most famous of the "motu" (coral islets) that surround the lagoon. Under the erosive action of atmospheric agents, the outcropping corals have assumed the strangest shapes, also giving life to natural pools.
