Ra's el-Barr (also Ras el-Bar, Arabic:رأس البر‎, Raʾs al-Barr, „the head of the mainland“) Is a place in egyptian Governorate Dumyāṭ on an island near the confluence of an arm of the Nile into the Mediterranean Sea. The city is a port city and a popular resort, especially among the locals. In 2006 about 8,700 inhabitants lived in the city,[1] during the holiday season their number rises to around a quarter of a million.
