Benisciangul-Gumus region is a region in the northwest ofEthiopia which borders to the northeast with the Region of the Amara, to the south with the Oromia region and to the west with the Sudan.

Geographical notes
The region is mostly mountainous. The Blue Nile (Abay) flows there in the central area, first flowing west and then north to enter Sudanese territory. The Blue Nile receives the Dabus River from the south which forms part of the border with the Oromia region.
Background
The region-state was established in 1995. It incorporated part of the territory of the former provinces of Uolleggà and Goggiam.
