Volga region or more precisely Volga Federal District is one of the nine federal districts of the Russia.

The region is named after and stretches along the entire catchment area of the Volga River.
Territories and tourist destinations
Upper Volga - Includes the Republic of Chuvashia, L'Udmurtia and the Republic of the Seas as well as the Oblasts of Kirov is Nizhny Novgorod.
Middle-Volga - Includes the Republic of Mordovia, the Tatarstan and the Oblasts of Penza, Samara is that of Ulyanovsk.
Lower-Volga - The lower part of the Volga includes three Oblasts and precisely those of Saratov, Astrakhan ' and that of Volgograd

- Nizhny Novgorod (Нижний Новгород) - Capital and also cultural center of the region.
- Astrakhan ' (Астрахань) - City with an almost Ukrainian flavor, it was one of the centers of culture throughout the Russian Middle Ages and up to the 19th century. It is located at the mouth of the Volga.
- Izhevsk (Ижевск) - Capital of the Autonomous Republic ofUdmurtia
- Kazan ' (Казань) - Capital of Tatarstan and the most populous city in the region, it offers an immense artistic, historical, cultural and ethnic wealth. Considered by many to be the most beautiful city in the world as well as being the only custodian of Tatar culture.
