In the years 1938-1957, the forest inspector in Meszczy was M.Sc. Jeremi Kozłowski. It was he who contributed to the survival of the old forest oakwhich is currently under reserve protection. His services for the protection of nature of the Lodzkie Voivodship have been honored with the name of a reserve created in the vicinity of the former seat of the forest inspectorate after him.

The area of ​​the reserve is 39.15 ha. It was established on May 11, 1989 in order to protect old-growth oak trees of natural origin in oak-hornbeam and mixed coniferous forests.

They deserve attention pedunculate oaks aged from 150 to 260 years. The circumference of the monumental trees ranges from 350 to 400 cm, and the height reaches 25-35 m. Trees of other species of considerable size also grow here. These include, among others: Scots pines (the thickest with a circumference of 270 cm), fir trees (140 cm), hornbeams (150 cm). birch trees, aspen, spruces, as well as wild apple trees, wild pear trees, rowan trees.

The reserve is home to species of common plants found in deciduous forests and coniferous forests of central Poland, as well as protected and rare plants, e.g .: Lily of the valley, long-leaved starfish, listera ovoid, medicinal primrose, goldenhead lily, the common hoof, the greater yoke, hairy reed, shady sedge, coral viburnum, club moss and daffodil daffodil.
