The Ryś nature reserve - Rezerwat przyrody Ryś

The nature reserve "Ryś" was established on July 21, 1977 and has an area of ​​53.93 ha. It is in the commune Sokolniki in Wieruszów County, voivodeship of Lodz, in Poland in the Złoczewska Upland mesoregion.

The subject of protection is a fragment of a natural stand beech at the edge of the geographical range. The greatest value of the reserve is 150-year-old common beeches up to 30 m high and trunk circumference up to 1.5 m. Moreover, almost all native tree species grow here. This proves the fertility and adequate humidity of the habitats.
The oldest pedunculate oaks, black alder, European ash, silver fir and Norway spruce reach 28-30 m in height and trunk circumference up to 2 m.
The vegetation consists of: pristine riparian riparian forests, subcontinental oak-hornbeam forest and fertile fir forest. The flora of the reserve is very rich. Over 200 species of herbaceous plants have been found in the undergrowth. A reserve with partial protection.
