Wieruszów poviat - Powiat wieruszowski

Wieruszów poviat - poviat in Poland in the south-west part of the Lodz voivodeship, reactivated in 1999 as part of an administrative reform. Its seat is in the city Wieruszów inhabited by 20% of the total population of the poviat.

Wieruszów County already existed in the years 1816–1870. It was reactivated on November 13, 1954 in the Łódź Voivodeship, as one of the first poviats created just after the introduction of clusters on September 29, 1954 instead of the existing communes as basic administrative units PRL. The Wieruszów poviat was made up of 1 town and 18 clusters, which were excluded from the two neighboring poviats. After abolishing the clusters and reactivating the communes, on January 1, 1973 the Wieruszów poviat was divided into 1 town and 6 communes. After the administrative reform in force from June 1, 1975, the territory of the liquidated Wieruszów County was incorporated into the newly created Kalisz voivodeship. Along with the administrative reform of 1999, the Wieruszów County was restored in the Łódzkie voivodship, in the shape similar to the pre-1975 borders.

It is located in Wysoczyzna Wieruszowska near the border with Opolskie Voivodeship and Greater Poland Voivodeship.
Wieruszów Poviat borders with six poviats: from the north with Ostrzeszów district, from the south with Kluczbork and Oleskie, from the east with Wieluński and Sieradz, from the west with Kępiński.
Historically, the area of ​​Wieruszów County was located in the western part of the Wieluń Land on the border with the Ostrzeszów Land.

The area of ​​the poviat is 577.21 km², which is 3.17% of the area of ​​the Łódzkie voivodeship. The poviat has 42 319 people, which is 1.7% of the entire voivodship's population and gives a population density of 73.3 people / km².

The moderately diversified landscape has a transitional character between the highlands and lowlands zones. The Prosna River flows through the poviat in the western part.
