Kępiński poviat is the southernmost region Greater Poland Voivodeship. It borders with three provinces: Lower Silesia, Opole and Łódź Province.

Characteristic

The Kępiński poviat is one of the medium-sized poviats - its area is 608.27 km², and the area is inhabited by 56,734 people. The only city in the district and its seat is Kepnoinhabited by about 15,500 people. Important communication routes run through this peculiar capital: WroclawWarsaw and KatowicePoznan. The closest major urban center is Ostrow Wielkopolski (about 50 km), Kalisz and Wroclaw (about 80 km). Distance from Poznan - the capital of the Greater Poland Voivodeship - is approximately 180 km.

Geography

Plain areas up to 200 m above sea level dominate in the Kępiński poviat. The area is, however, interesting in terms of nature, especially interesting are nature reserves, e.g. "Studnica" in the commune Rychtal.

Tourism

A large attraction of the region are numerous monuments, the most valuable of which are of a sacred nature. The best example of this is a wooden church from the 18th century "Na Pólku" - located under Bralin, awarded in 1993 with a silver medal awarded by the organization "Europa Nostra".

History

Economy

Basically, the poviat has an agricultural and food character with well-developed crafts and trade. The furniture industry plays a special role in this region. Kępno furniture basin. The furniture offer here is varied, and the quality and price of the furniture are extremely attractive. Numerous, usually small production and craft plants as well as active activity of the Poviat Labor Office mean that unemployment in this area is relatively low.

The junction railway station is located in Kępno. Railway lines cross here KatowiceOstrow Wielkopolskiand also begins branching towards Wieluń. Before that, there were also railroads to Olesnica and Namysłów, but currently rail traffic on these routes has been suspended. Three national roads run through the poviat and all of them intersect in Kępno.   • Kepno - the seat of the poviat is an interesting city with historic buildings, a market square, churches and a synagogue.
  • Grębanin - a picturesque village with a historic wooden church and the Mańkowski Palace.
  • The wooden pilgrimage church of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on "Pólek" under Bralin built in 1711. The beginnings of the church date back to the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. They are related to the miraculous transfer of the parish image of the Mother of God to the field near Bralin. To commemorate these events, a cross was erected and later a chapel.
