Ostrzeszów poviat it lies in the southern part Greater Poland Voivodeship, to the north it borders with Ostrów counties and Kalisz - terrestrial, from the south with Kępiński poviat and Lower Silesian Voivodeship and voivodeship of Lodz on the east. The seat and the largest city of the county is Ostrzeszów.

Geography
The area of the poviat is comprised of basins - valleys and hills. From the western border of the poviat, through the communes of Kobyla Góra, Ostrzeszów and Mikstat, there is a range of hills - Ostrzeszowskie Hills with altitudes exceeding 200 m a.s.l. - determining the extent of the Central Polish Glaciation and the southern border of Greater Poland. The Ostrzeszów Hills are the most magnificent eastern part Wał Trzebnickiand their culmination - Kobylą Góra 284 m above sea level - considered to be the highest points of Wielkopolska. The eastern part of the poviat is part of the so-called Grabowska Valley lying on The South-Greater Poland Lowland with the characteristic Prosna Valley. In turn, the south of the poviat - the Doruchów commune is a fragment of the sub-region - Wysoczyzna Wieruszowska. In terms of hydrography, the poviat area belongs to the upper Barycz basin and the Prosna basin, only a small southern edge belongs to the Widawa basin.

By rail
A railway line runs through the poviat Ostrow Wielkopolski – Katowice. The largest railway station is located in Ostrzeszów, from which trains to Grabowa on the Prosna River and Namysłaków. However, due to its marginal importance, this line is closed today. There are also a train station in the village Niedźwiedź Wielkopolski.
By car
The main artery crossing the Ostrzeszów poviat is the national road no.11Poznan – Bytom. In the northwest, a national road also runs through a small patch of the region no 25Bydgoszcz – Olesnica. IN Ostrzeszów Numerous voivodeship and poviat roads intersect, the most important of which are: the voivodeship road no 444Krotoszyn – Ostrzeszów and the provincial road no.449 connecting Syców and Błaszki.
