Ostrów County it is situated in the southwestern part Greater Poland Voivodeship. It borders with Lower Silesian Voivodeship and the following poviats: Krotoszyn, Pleszew, Kalisz and Ostrzeszów. Over 160,000 inhabitants live in an area of 1175.2 km².
Characteristic
Agricultural land covers 61% of the area, while forests almost 28%. Therefore, the poviat has an agricultural and industrial character, and the natural consequence of this is the agri-food industry dominating the structure of the economy. Tourism is also developing quite well. It is also important that the entire area of the poviat has a well-developed infrastructure: water supply and telephones are a matter of course, and most communes have their own sewage treatment plants.
Geography

There are many green areas, meadows and forests in the Ostrów County. The most famous forms of nature protection in the area are: "Barycz Valley" Landscape Park, European Bird Refuge covered by the Ramsar Convention, 2 km from the southern border of the city; Protected Landscape Area Prosny Valley and Kotlina Grabowska2 km from the eastern border of the city, Protected Landscape Area of the Ostrzeszowskie Hills and Odolanów Basin. These areas are quite extensive and also extend to the neighboring counties.
History
In 1815, when for the first time the Prussian administration moved the seat of the Odolanów poviat and part of the institution (Poviat Court, Poviat Fund) to Ostrów. From that moment on, all new institutions and facilities of poviat rank are created only in this city. After World War II, the poviat is divided again: into the Ostrów poviat and the city with the rights of the Ostrów poviat. In 1975, as a result of the centralizing administrative reform, both counties were liquidated. This state of affairs lasted until 1999, when the unified Ostrów County was restored with another reform.
Economy
The Ostrowski Poviat has an agricultural and industrial character, the area has a very good infrastructure - it has water supply systems, telephones, most communes have their own sewage treatment plants and build a sewage system. There is no tradition of heavy industry in the poviat, but the agri-food industry has good development prospects.
Drive
By plane
There are no airports in the poviat, only in the village of Michałków, north of Ostrów Wielkopolski, there is an airport Ostrowski Aero Club. Currently, parachute training, glider flights and air shows are held there.
By rail

Interesting places
- Ostrow Wielkopolski - the capital and the largest city of the district, in which there are several interesting monuments (churches, a synagogue, a picturesque market square with a town hall), interesting premises and restaurants.
- Antonin - a village in the southern part of the poviat, by the national road no.11, picturesquely situated on the Szperek pond. The biggest attraction is the Palace of Fr. Radziwiłła - made of larch, with a beautiful hall and galleries. Inside there is a hotel and restaurant, perfect for a weekend trip.
- Lewków - a village near Ostrów Wielkopolski, where the classicist Lipski Palace is located, is now located in it Interior Museum. The historic church of St. Wojciech.
- Nowe Skalmierzyce - a historic, over 100-year-old railway station, built in the neo-Gothic style
- Droszew - historic wooden church. All Saints Church next door is beautifully made Way of the Cross with a golgotha topped with a mighty cross. In the nearby cemetery there is a historic cross with sculptures by the local artist Paweł Bryliński.
- A clown - a very interesting town with preserved old layout and buildings. The main monuments are the beautiful church of St. John the Evangelist (remains of the Cistercian convent), the wooden church of St. John the Baptist in the southern part of the village and an old mill and oil mill building.
- The Ostrów County is rich in nature monuments. We find among the most interesting Antonińskie Oaks, oak avenue in Raduchowie, birch avenue by the route Rososzyca-Wielowieś Klasztorna, historic park layouts, e.g. parks surrounding picturesque palaces, mansions of My Will, Sobótka, Gorzno and The Guts. Nature lovers will be delighted with the vast panorama The Barycz ice-margins, rich forest complexes, developed and well-kept reservoirs, Przyodzickie and Milicz ponds, which are a paradise for water birds.
Transport
The most convenient way to get around in the Ostrów district is by car - there is a well-developed and well-maintained road network. Bus communication is also popular (PKS, MZK Ostrów Wielkopolski and private carriers), which allows access to most towns, including small villages. - Alkart[4] - the kart track is built in a hall with an area of 1950 square meters. It is the longest facility of this type in the region - the track is 255 meters long, 4-6 meters wide, and we have several sharp turns to overcome. The equipment includes over 20 cards from Sodikart with different engine capacities. These vehicles are homologated, guaranteeing the safety of users, they are equipped with a hydraulic disc brake. There are also safe, homologated helmets and suits available - to rent while using the track.
In the facility you can also use the "Pit Stop Bistro" café, which offers a panoramic view of the track. You can organize special events, trainings or integration meetings there.
